HUI
This
complete hardware workstation console has the
user-friendly features and ergonomics that Mackie
is renowned for... including instantly touch-updatable
100mm motorized faders, transport controls, DAE
Plug-ins control, keyboard shortcuts, window
buttons - even built-in mic preamps! What used
to take multiple mouse moves and clicks can now
be done at the push of a single button. Instead
of individually adjusting "faders"
on screen, Pro Tools 4.1 users can now enjoy hands-on
tracking and mixing with touch-updatable motorized
faders.
With full automation control and recall capabilities,
HUI is anything but a conventional fader pack.
For serious pros who work day in and day out with
Pro Tools, HUI can significantly boost productivity
with direct control.
Human User Interface is organized into seven parts:
- In
the upper-left is an assign section where internal
mix bus and physical hardware I/O assignments
are made
- The
main part of HUI is the eight assignable channel-strips
with 100mm motorized faders and V-Pot rotaries
- In
the upper-right is a vacuum fluorescent alphanumeric
display for controlling the DAE Plug-ins
- Below
the DSP section is a switch matrix for assigning
channel status and/or global session attributes
- The
lower-right, with keypad and jogwheel, dedicated
keys, and cursor controls, is dedicated to transport/locate
- The
lower-left contains a keyboard shortcut section
bank and selector buttons to switch between Pro
Tools screens
- In
the middle is a complete analog control room
section with 3 sets of speaker/phones controls
and built-in talkback
Mackie
figured if you had a couple of studio-grade microphone
preamps, you'd have it all and probably wouldn't
need a cool Mackie analog mixer. So they went ahead
and added two of their renowned high-headroom low-noise
preamps with balanced XLR inputs. If you make your
living using Pro Tools, HUI can dramatically add
to your productivity. Once you've used it for a
short time, you'll wonder how you ever got along
with just a mouse. |

Baby
HUI is an eight-fader MIDI controller that provides
in-depth mixing, automation, and navigational control
for any digital audio workstation that supports the
HUI™ MIDI mapping protocol. Designed as a smaller,
scaled- down version of it's predecessor, Baby HUI
supports all the major features found on the original
HUI - only in a smaller footprint and at a more affordable
price point. Perfect fit for those DAW enthusiasts
on a budget, or space-conscious engineers who have
a very small area to use with a controller.
Baby
HUI has eight channel strips that include a 60
mm touch-sensitive motorized fader, mute button,
solo button, and a Signal LED. Each channel strip
also has a multi-functional rotary encoder that
can be used for pan or send level control, or can
be pushed in (like a button) to provide Channel
Select, Record Arming, or Automation Arming functions.
Baby HUI supports a full automation assignment
section, display buttons, and Undo button and a
Shift Modifier to double up certain controls. Basic
navigational control can be achieved by using the
tape-style transport and the RTZ/END buttons, and
any channel can be accessed with the Bank/ Channel
Select buttons. |

Digital 8 Bus (D8B) |
 |
The
best way to sell yourself on the Mackie D8B Digital
8-Bus Mixer is to ask someone who owns one. From
Grammy-winning producers and engineers like Walter
Afanasieff , Don Was, and Ed Cherney, to artists
like Crystal Method and Naughty By Nature, the D8B
is the standard for powerful, easy-to-use digital
mixing.
When
you sit down at a Digital 8•Bus, you'll feel
as well as hear a difference. It is as intuitive
and easy to use as an analog console because the
D8B is the only mid-sized digital console designed
by large-console automation specialists. |
